GOT YOUR SERVICE FIX?
Todd Dewett | January 25, 2018
I’m am so grateful for all my corporate clients who pay my bills, but we can never forget all of the small organizations, non-profits, and government agencies who make our lives work.
This week was a wonderful week of service for me that I won’t soon forget. Tuesday I served as a volunteer working with other volunteers as part of the annual homeless count here in Houston, Texas. It is a fun and sometimes very difficult task, but collecting as much information as possible about each and every homeless person we can find really helps the US government and all of the relevant local organizations continue to serve this population.
Wednesday I spoke to the national leadership team from Prison Ministries. Great people with a great cause – helping men successfully transition back into life outside of prison. We toured an amazing facility near Houston where I saw first hand the amazing work Prison Ministries is doing to change lives. I was honored to give a quick talk to a gathering of all the inmates – huge fun (and the most fulfilling standing ovation I have ever received).
Tonight I’m lucky to work with VEL Institute – a nonprofit in Houston focused on helping veterans in need. They are putting on an event where I will keynote to spread a little education, awareness about veteran needs, and to raise a little money.
What at week! Now let me state the obvious: have you found your service outlet? You need to get your fix. All of us enjoying a little success have an obligation to reach out and help those in need so that they too might find a little success. Good luck 🙂
